Report from Lake Worthy

dscn8568the Parade will be tomorrow.    9o Bikes were given away to our children in Lake Worth on the Cultural Plaza.  It was an awesome sight, so many faces of great expectations.  dscn8578The bike count was increased from  last year ‘s 70 up to 90 this year. They came from various community associations donations and  a small budget but not for this many bikes from Leisure Services, or have it your way the Recreation  department. The honors of presenting them and calling out the 90 numbers fell on our own Mayor Pam and Commissioner Scott Maxwell had the honor of delivering them into the hands of those great smiles. dscn8613 dscn8614Even the little Grinch got one and you could see him running up with his winning ticket to collect his prize.  dscn8548

Many anxious faces wishing that the next call would be for their number.  The one thing I noticed there were approximately 12 TICKETS called that had no response.  12 kids who failed to claim theirs,  but those bikes went to the very next number called.  The way this works is you register your child’s name and age.  they are sorted into the appropriate age group at sign up, and of course you must be present to win.     dscn8557 dscn8550 dscn8549 dscn8621 dscn8600 dscn8565 dscn8523 dscn8532 dscn8526 dscn8609 dscn8623 dscn8528 dscn8595 dscn8541 dscn8540

This is an annual event and again many thanks to everyone who put in extra hours from the City Departments who had to do double duty.  Kiwanis is always entrusted with keeping the kids happy and occupied.

Some families were very blessed they got two bikes for their children.

EDITORS NOTE Some won two years ago and again this year.  With all these bikes in our town we should have a Bike Day, where May would be when to have it,  as that is when it is recognized May 19 is that dAY.
