HAPPY EASTER! And it’s holiday weekend
photos came through but whe n they do i will fill them in. AMWH) for us in England and there is something going on wherever you turn. I know for sure that it is the same in Lake Worth, I loved Easter time in Lake Worth because it was always fun and the year I was the Easter Princess with Ted Johnson as the Easter Bunny (as he is again this year, I hope) was one of my memorable times there.
This week started with a beautifully sunny day and I cycled along the seafront into town, stopping every so often to take photos because the views were spectacular. When the water is calm and the boats are all standing straight, sparkles of sunlight catching the ripples on the water……beautiful! I noticed some filming going on halfway along the beach and stopped on my way back to check it out. It is a comedy and a new season to be aired in September, very exciting stuff. I spoke to a man waiting patiently with two dogs in tow, turns out he was an extra waiting to be called for his turn…he told me that he was often called by the production company and he earned enough to be able to buy treats, might look into that one! In fact, we have a lot of fims shot here, well parts of films to be exact and amongst them are Essex Boys (2000), Goldfinger (1964) that was our airport! HappyGoLucky (2008),Bonded by Blood (2010), Funny Man (1994) cannot vouch for any of them but I might try and get hold of some of them and take a look, there will probably be a fleeting glance of the seafront or pier!
Good Friday saw the dawning of another beautiful day and it was lucky for me because I was volunteering at The Steam Fair which is here for 9 days. I was on the entrance taking money and it was so busy and huge fun. The children were so excited and were laughing and screaming on the rides….I am on duty again on Tuesday from 48pm, not so sure I will be as busy then. I love the sound of the fairground, reminds me of childhood when the fairs would visit the local park. It’s the hurdy gurdy music and the smell of the candy floss and hot dogs. Families were leaving with armfuls of fluffy toys won by shooting at the target or throwing soft balls to knock over the toy your child was so intent on getting.
to come in and stick stickers in all the new books that arrive and arrange to books for me….sometimes not a brilliant arrangement, but who am I to change it!!! If he sends me the photos soon, I will put them in next week’s blogs.
Talking of LFLs, good news on the Little Free Library Front, this time I was speaking at my Rotary Club which believe it or not meets at 7am (yes, 7AM) every Wednesday. They are happy to sponsor libraries to be erected in public spaces in Southend and not only that, one of our members has offered to make them, to say I was happy would be an understatement. The ten libraries being made at school are completed bar the front doors, but I can start to paint them and then they can be put together. There will be a competition whereby people can write in and tell us where they think a library should go and the reasons why they think it should be there, that will be fun.
Our new community project will be kickstarted with a little Free Library being erected on the estate which is giving the most concern…….watch this space for news of that one.
And today Easter Sunday, I am in Birmingham with friends and family hence the need to finish the blog a little early because we have no internet here and I know I can send it when we go over to Worcester for lunch.
I am excited because this week we have friends from Lake Worth coming to stay and we have some exciting trips planned as well as a week in Italy……..good times are coming!
Enjoy the weekend, don’t overdose on the Easter Eggs and have the most fun possible……speak next week
