Now that we are in 2016 and everyone feels it is auspicious it truly is for The Lake Worth Art League They just turned 75 a Diamond Jubilee and they are gearing up to do a fun fundraisers, some special shows. The oldest longest running 501.c3 in Palm Beach County! WOW With the snowbirds arriving their take in saw 59 pcs. of art come in as well as one special delivery from Woodstock N.Y. Their reception is this Sunday 3 to 5:30 p.m. A little catch up on the quirky parts of our town which has caught on the “Artisan District” these cottage photos are from that arrondissement. You want to know how to pronounce it here you go. Yes, property is still reasonable in this area and look how cute these are. Although artists live throughout Lake Worth seems to be a concentration. In fact the Benzeiten Hot Shop is about to have their 1st anniversary. Again all artists are invited to participate. Call them.
On Wednesdays the Thursday Night Peddlers ride leaving The Gulfstream Hotel at 6:30 p.m. for a leisure bike through some of the other charming areas of our city and yes they do pass this gate below, almost each ride. On weekends during snowbird season the Green Market is in full swing , right under the bridge as you cross over the inter-coastal waterway. Lake Worthians
actually own part of, a sliver of Palm Beach Island. There is a north and there is a south Palm Beach and we are smack dab in the middle with our own beach .
And that is where Lake Worth Beach is located. So, if you live here where ever in this laid back bea;ch town you are less than 2 miles from the beach at the farthest point.
We have two what appears to be City Halls. The one attached to the Cultural Plaza on M st. is the Annex where our Visitor Center is and about to have its first anniversary, everyone is invited. Then where our Mayor Pam and our City Manager hold fort is on Dixie Hwy. There currently is hanging a charming photo exhibition which shows images of our town from the view-point of our Guatemalan-Mayan children. It was curated and put together at the Photographic Center just up the road on Clamatis ST. in West Palm Beach our neighbor to the north.
On to quirky of course. Should you have a need to urgently call your mother as she is trying to get through to you, here is a real mobile phone cruising our one way streets.
