This has to be a 3 part series as last 48 hours have just been full of friends and happenings. Took well over 200 photos and trying to reduce them, Trying my best to choose the best representation of what Lake Worth Beach is all about. Pretty much followed what I posted and with the holidays there are always overlapping events. This was at the Compass Community ctr. where they had a Hanukkah/Christmas ornament making party, with lighting of the menorah Friday evening and Up and early Saturday with “Breakfast with Santa” at the Mockingbird Garden sponsored by the Order of the Eastern Star LW chapt. 111 . So many kids were there, picture of this one group it is all one family plus some of the usual attendees for the $5 breakfast, kids $3
Then at noon our activities were in full force at the Cultural Plaza where the Lake Worth Recreation Board gave away via lotto close to 100 bikes. Great Odds. While they all waited for the drawing there were lots of interactive activities sponsored by Kiwanis.
Then on to the main event. The BIKE-give-a-way. This is always an interesting study of faces of anticipation and then the reality for those chosen. I recall last year one little girl just screamed after it was all over and she did not get a bike, but this year was her year.
Hard to get a sequence with so many but I managed some before and after. This year many of the kids got boosts up to the stage, short cut to their dream. This was an interesting case, the number was called 3 times then the Mayor turned the number over and read the name. Asked I asked the father what was going on. He said “wasn’t paying attention” The child must be there to get the bike Several were not claimed and went to the next draw. All in All it was a great afternoon; Next years goal is to increase the bikes to 100 plus with the help of the wonderful sponsors. To be continued with the Parade part 2 then the climax at Dave’s
