11891212_10153547011803818_9115058851793881647_nThis is an ongoing series recognizing the finest talent living here in Lake Worth Beach, who are recognized world-wide.  Success for these artists* is frequently  preceded by passion, commitment and hard work, looking and trying and re-evaluating.          Aidana an Argentine comes from a modest background rich, in art and the art of repurposing.10247313_10152366849308818_6660833284684542876_nLong before some of us knew of  ecco ethics. She with her mother, she credits her mother for much of her consciousness.  As when they, together at the kitchen table repurposed the pliable milk cartons of Argentina into courier bags, easing the burden of the Buenos Aires women shopping.   Her beginning was in Boston for a call to artists, for items made of trash.  This was then the beginning of “Trash Fashions” in 2004 .  She  started small, making small unisex clutches out of Bicycle inner-tubes. 11416131_10153310672018818_7958229776708557589_nQuite in demand now as all the work is currently down in Miami for the Art Basel crowd.  Sure to be seen are some of her sold dresses at the opening Galas, and private parties there. All the things she creates are a labor of love, all hand-made and priced accordingly.12243358_10207448303793193_7277074021878951976_n

Her work has been seen in museum and has been showcased in traveling exhibitions. Also showcased in “Ethical Fashion” in Paris.  Most recent boon for her was a contract with Kenneth Cole the designer.  (Artists take note here) She sent him a thank you for his purchase of one of her small bags.  Did a bit of research and saw he also works with needy communities to better their lives. A win win!DSCN1356 She works out of her small 25ft. wide Lake Worth Cottage that houses her studio.  So you might see her as the photo below spreading out the banners on a neighbors empty lot.12063436_10153622099733818_1615021343712548864_n

To her credit she also has this book out.  Aidana in her tiny  studio space creates  items like recycled necklaces, and crochet  bathing suits made from  discarded hose.  I just saw crochet  swim suits and cover ups coming into fashion in a big way for 2016 . DSCN2158
