There are times that the time moves swiftly and before you know it the weekend is over as is half of the new week. So a recap the quirky, cool, adorable things that happen in our Lake Worth Beach area. I wrote last about Real Mail Friday and it is something I do not like to miss. This time I walk in at FAU’s Jaffee Book Arts Ctr. to be greeted by
familiar faces and some saying “we’ve been coming here on your recommendation and we love it” It is a very special place, a time to share the love of letters and sending the gift of a hello to a friend. I took Charlotte Skinner and outfitted her so she would not be lost and just look she is using a crow quill pen as if she was born to it. Someone there made a hand made iillustrated book just to cheer a bear up. Just awesome. There was Apple Pie just the finishing touch that went so well with the creative afternoon and the coffee. Needless to say everyone had such a wonderful time.
Then on to the wonderful evening at the Cultural Plaza where all the paintings were to be sold for under the age of the creators. Cool marketing move! A wonderful evening at the Plaza where The Mommy Squad took an idea by ONE OF THE KIDS and made it happen. You wonder who are these women whose moniker is MOMMY SQUAD
Not easy to live up to and they make things happen. (Wonder if they could run the Lake Worth Recreation Dept.?) my bet would be on them, in a heart beat. It was in full swing and pop corn was being dispensed by a very important person. It made for a light-hearted evening with some serious undertone,
This is not the end all, in good time. I am sharing the weekend in sequence. Sunday found me at the Publix and I ran into my favorite people (not the City Manager this time) the excitement was still palatable. Their goal was $500 and they raised $876
Their adopted cat made it into the Sunday paper. Not a bad run of excitement. Then on to the big girls party and how do they party? They are exchanging treasures that no longer fit, please, or have seen better days.
A few hours later another get together given as a “Thank You” for the volunteers of the newly created Information Center by Ozzie and Susan Ona at their home. Yes, more volunteers are needed and soon the hours will be extended for the upcoming high season.
right after this ,a sit down dinner inside. They treat their volunteers well. TUESDAY was Show and Tell by two groups. Of course this was a proud moment to be recognized and become part of the official record.
The other Show and Tell was delivered by Parrot Cove’s President Anthony Moratta. a fine job and he had a great presentation and mentioned all the volunteers by name as their contributions were mentioned. Well Done.
Editor Note : *I attend all the City Hall Commission meetings and have seen all the Neighborhood reports. This one was the best neighborhood report. While I have your attention it would be nice to see more attend these meetings. The pontificating is driving me nuts. Yet I do not want to be disrespectful and walk out . I had to look up this word as I wanted to make sure this was the correct usage, tried 3 others. SO Pontificate it is and it means .” pon is for ponder…ponder means slow speech.” Yet I give credit for everyone being smart up there. Get to the point. please please ”
