Editors Note: yes My post on the Tuppens Marine was visited via this blog over 400 some times. Now not everyone commented. Some are shy, some think it will take care of itself. Others had an opinion but the fact that so many people did read it there was curiosity and some decent dialogue. To be honest sometimes I wonder if anyone cares or visits this blog. Thank you all for participating. Long live Tuppins ! TWO TWO CALLS TO ARTISTS this one is for next weekend.
Habitat for Humanity of Palm Beach County is all about “Opening Doors.” We do it on many levels, both figuratively and literally. Not only do we open physical doors of Habitat homes, we open doors for deserving families to own a home and learn how to manage finances. We open doors for others to contribute to the betterment of our community. And soon we’ll be opening the doors to our new ReStore, which is all about repurposing, recycling and sustainability. Families can donate their household items, which in turn can be sold for money that will help families in need open doors to their own homes. Your door will be artfully recycled as a symbol for Habitat for Humanity Palm Beach County building hope and homes in our community. But do not feel limited by this specific suggestion. Be creative. We welcome your own interpretations of the themes of “opening doors” and “upcycling.”
You will be able to select your own door at Habitat’s current ReStore at 6831 N. Military Trail, Riviera Beach.
What are the benefits to participating?
The selected artists will display their doors at the new ReStore and be on hand to discuss their art at the grand opening sneak preview for Habitat benefactors on Thursday, June 18, 2015. Artists will also be promoted in all collateral, social media, advertising and public relations. Eventually, the doors will become part of a Habitat for Humanity Palm Beach County ReStore permanent display. A placard acknowledging the respective artist will accompany each door.
What are the prizes?
The “Judges Favorite” and “Viewers Choice” artists will each receive a unique Habitat for Humanity of PalmBeach County award, a $100 ReStore gift certificate, and the opportunity to appear as a guest on the Habitat Home Show on Newsradio 1290 WJNO, which airs on Saturdays at noon. All runners up will receive certificates of appreciation and $50 ReStore Gift Certificates.
