Hello My Lake Worth Friends… ..I hope that all is well with you. How absolutely wonderful to back here in this town which feels very much like home to me, just like the Mel and Vinnie song with the same title!
It is amazing how everything just slots into place and instantly we are back into our life here. In fact, we returned two weeks tomorrow and already we have been involved in so much that makes this town tick!
The Pete Seeger concert at The Gray Mockingbird Community Gardens was a huge success. I was in the kitchen, no change there, and was busy with all the wonderful things that people brought to share, more than enough to feed everyone who turned up. The music was fabulous and there were lots of memories of this great man, whom I had not realised was so inspirational in so many things
A lovely young man John, who is on the bike ride each Thursday and Marika and Rhonda were great volunteers as well. It is always my favourite thing, to get involved in community events, always gives a nice feeling!
We have now completed our application forms for volunteering at the Visitors Centre and have now handed them in, awaiting them to be processed. I am looking forward to this because it was in the process of being set up before we left and there appeared to be yards and yards of red tape to struggle through before it was finally opened, it is something that I also felt the town needed and i hear it is a huge success. I will let you know when my first day is just so you can come and ask me the most complicated questions to keep me on my toes!
Then we had the ‘Fifty Shades of Green’ at South Shores. Greens from the garden were the basis for many of the dishes available and around 40 people enjoyed this event. The food was very good and the event was a success. I hear from good authority that this is going to be a regular event every month, watch out for invites!
We have had Mother’s Day, something we celebrate in March in England and just like England restaurants are filled to capacity and florists are working 24hours…
It is wonderful to catch up with friends and hear the news and in some cases, the gossip! In the most part, it is as if we have never been away, just as it is with good friends.
Thursday Peddlars are going strong, lots of new faces which is nice and on our first night back there was a pool party after the ride…great fun! Food trucks were in the Plaza last night, a hugely popular event and a fabulous place to sit and eat, it was so lively….like a huge outdoor restauran
I started back at school today, every Tuesday at The Clifford Taylor School, it is such fun, it is great to be around children and they are always so fascinated with me….where I come from…am I French, am I Japanese, is the Eiffel Tower in England, Do I know One Direction……it’s fun. We have a big Sports Event on Thursday and Friday, they are short of volunteers so I am going in on Friday, should be interesting as long as I do not have to run races!
This year I am excited because we are here for July 4th, each year we are involved with pre events, painting boats, fundraising and then we go home and have to be satisfied with watching the event on the internet…..not this year, woohoo
Of course, at home the newest member of the royal family was born….always exciting and a good reason for celebration, I love it!
I have already found one Retro Jetro car, a camper van, one that I needed for my collection, I am going out early this week to catch a Tiki Man!
Have a wonderful week, I hope it is exciting, relaxing and full of fun.
