Street Painting Festival (part 3 of 5 )

We are now into Sunday and what a beautifulstart to the day. No rains over night as in previous years destroying the art.  First person I saw on the grounds was President and Founder of the Chalk Festival Marianne Webber  7:30 a.m.   The Picture says it all.  Then slowly the artists start to drift in, it is around 8a.m.

Professional Photographers make an early appearance.  Recommend you look at their sites for some real great photos.  At the end of my series here I will show you my 3 best photos, taken over the entire weekend.  As this was the last Sunday of the month and there is a tradition emerging in Lake Worth Beach.  Breakfast at the Mockingbird Gardens*DSCN0335 DSCN0344, all you can eat for $5.  So that is where I met up most of our neighbors.    This event could not possibly come off the way it did without our wonderful Volunteers so, I start with them. this go around.  There is more to come as I did not get to the Trolly volunteers but I do know this volunteer pictured right below here, she did her duty above and beyond.  She gets motion sickness!

Now on to the show.                                                                                                                        Artists started drifting in and before I go further.  I heard from our missing artist Richard DelPonte.

“Hi !!! After 20 Years of participating in the festival my knees won’t take it. I will let the young kids take over. Miss you Richard” and  this is the missing/stolen painting almost life size.  If you see it call the FBI’s stolen valuables. It’s not nice to steal art.                               DO NOT CALL THE FBI   JUST BEEN INFORMED THAT THIS BEAUTIFUL LARGE PAINTING IS NOT MISSING AND NOT STOLEN .  IT JUST BECAME MORE VALUABLE AS IT HAS ALL THIS PRESS AND HUBBA BALU  (Hey Richard not a bad ending to 20 years and now some provenance..  HOPE to see it in a nice public spot like City Hall or our new Information Center.  It represents our  fine City.

  1. I just wanted to let you and your readers know the reason that the street painting that you have pictured above and so generously sponsored by Allied Property Management was not completed during the festival. The artist has participated in the Lake Worth Street Painting Festival for many years and has always created beautiful work. I noticed on Sunday afternoon of the festival that she had not returned and seemed to have left her street painting space somewhat abruptly. I contacted her by e-mail concerned for her well being. She responded almost immediately and apologized. Her reason: Her Father had recently passed away. She thought she would be OK to participate in the festival but as she progressed her emotions overwhelmed her and she was unable to continue. Her father had always come to the festival to see her street painting.

The special individuals that participate in our Street Painting Festival take it very seriously. The festival has for most, if not all , played a huge part in their lives. The artists are what this festival is all about, not the finished piece. It is about the time, effort and talents that they share on this wonderful weekend that takes place once a year in our treasured city.

    • Thank you for letting us know. There are always circumstances and as I recently had my own loss and trying to come to grips. This is not lost on me. Thank you for taking the time. Had you known I’m sure you would have done something to complete it by asking stand by artists to assist. Have a Beautiful Day and looking forward to another fabulous Street Painting Festival in 2016.
