This is going to be an extra special night. In fact it will be a night to remember for quite a few. The movie is magical “The Artist ” is a clever, joyous film, a tribute to the silent films. A call has gone via the grapevine for everyone to wear white for the night (iambic pentameter) to tonight’s showing of the Artist on the Cultural Plaza. A black and white film with a 5 count them ***** rating.
Why is this night more special, well there will be people on the plaza wearing white and instead of sitting on a blanket picnicking they will be sitting at their own card tables, all in a row, decked out in white. Not everyone is comfortable on the ground and some never took to earthy delights. This is open to everyone in Lake Worth should you want to be part of this happening. Share the Joy. At the end will be a brief list of what you will want to have with you to participate. A bit of History*. A quote from one article about the Chicago event. “Where will this year’s event be held? The answer is a secret that will be revealed to attendees about an hour before dinner.”
- A card table
- 2 chairs
- table linens white
- 2 plates 2 sm plates, w glasses 2 forks 2 sm spoons
- some decor for the table
- your food and drinks (wine cooler) list put together by friend.
- Check in begins 7 p.m. tables adjacent to one another as they arrive.
- A kitchen trash bag white. 🙂 for the end.
Do not despair if you feel this is just to short a notice ha ha ha. South Shores has agreed to accommodate those who run out of time. They will take orders up to 6 p.m. and you should also indicate pick up time of your order. How convenient! Remember, there is water always for sale on the Plaza by the CRA, and for perfect movie watching, regardless where you’re sitting pop corn is available at the Front Porch. Both do things for the benefit of us all in Lake Worth.
* Dinner en blanc history started 25 years ago among friends just like us. Launched in Paris by Francois Pasquier in 1988 as a gathering of 10 friends. They decided to wear white so that they could easily spot one another.
Today there are 40 events that take place around the world, and the original Paris event brings together more than 10,000 people annually Friends who invited friends (who invited friends) will learn the location of their dinner, a closely guarded secret kept by organisers until the very last-minute, and within the hour,
