Well, it is countdown time and I am thinking about packing up, ready to go home to England. I quite dislike the kind of in between period where I am trying to get packed and say goodbyes and organise the house and my activities back home. Still, it has to be done!
It has been an extremely busy week, full of diverse things from helping to change the layout of houses to working in the garden. Do you ever get to the stage at home where you want a change but have no idea what to do or how to do it? all it takes is a fresh set of eyes on the task in hand and it is easy. I went to help a friend with changing her house around and we all had such fun, moving things around, putting them somewhere else, then moving them again until they fitted and everyone agrees the change is working. it was so satisfying and everyone was happy!
On Wednesday I had lunch at Joy Noodle with a friend, it was great, good food, not overpriced, nice atmosphere and surroundings, would definitely recommend to anyone…..try it! I took a class at McGow Glass with Jill on Wednesday evening, it was such a neat experience. The smell of the glass and the paint and the firings was amazing. It was a treasure trove of colour and design. There were about 10 people in the class, Taught by Patti, a wonderfully quirky and talented lady who made the class such fun. We pick up our works of art next week, be interesting to see the finished product. It is always good to experience new ideas and challenge yourself to try new things. It will depend on how my piece of glass turns out to determine whether it was a success or not, I will let you know next week. Whichever way it goes, I had fun!
My Random Act of Kindness this week consisted of weeding the gardens at The Gray Mockingbird Community Garden and mulch them so they looked nice and tidy. I so enjoyed that and felt that I had accomplished something when I had finished. I noticed that a light has been placed over the wall which should look fabulous at night. Talking of the wall, there are still a few tiles left to buy and be included for ever on this gorgeous work of art which always makes me tingle when I look at it.
We had such a fun bike ride this week and did a dummy run of the proposed bike tour of The Lake Worth Cottages. It is such a good idea and we took in 8 of the best cottages for this month. You know, some of these homes have amazingly interesting histories, from their previous owners to the period in which the cottage was built. It was a successful exercise and one which I think will be much sought after by both visitors and residents alike. One of my favourite cottages is the one where the couple live in two cottages one behind the other, so both parties have their own space, not a bad idea! We had to complete the ride once again with a pool party and refreshments kindly organized by Walter.
Friday was the opening of the new restaurant in town, Suri’s. an excellent evening with friends, followed by ice cream at Hoffmans. It is always good to see new businesses open in town and I am pretty sure that this one will be a very successful indeed. Friday afternoon was ‘Real Mail Friday’ at The Jaffe Art Centre in FAU Boca. WE write letters by hand and are supplied with the most fabulous selection of handmade paper, colours, postcards…..and a lot of people who would dearly love to receive mail. It is always such fun and such a joy to actually write rather than type. You should try it, first Friday of every month. A wonderful exhibition at South Shores on Saturday evening, the opening was fun. There were lots of people there, great music, great people, great art…….loved it! As the whole evening was a huge success.
I am so looking forward to Friday Evening at the swimming pool, what a great idea on the part of Mary Lindsay, a true community evening, I hope everyone is coming and the event is a huge success.I hope we will see each other there! Until the, have a great week full of fun happenings.
