Sounds intriguing, 1001 cottages of Lake Worth. Actually there are more than that. This takes one into the history of how the area came about. Short of it is, if you purchased a tract of land out in the boonies you could get a 25 ft. lot in town, close to the beach. This was sometime back in the frontier days. Since there are so very many cottages, there is now a group that has decided that it is a feature worth promoting. Other towns down the road say Cottages of B……..Beach or Cottages of D………. but they have less than 25 in all. Each neighborhood in Lake Worth is proud to feature them monthly. Actually, they feature a home or garden of the month, but who cares, invariably it turn out to be a cottage.
Like this one in Mango Grove, currently featured. The Cottages of Lake Worth group is now promoting a walking tour, a self guided bike and driving tour and soon to be a coffee table book.
Most of the town could qualify being on the National Historic Register. The prices have risen and it appears there are investors who now find this to be a charming quirky town and want a piece of it. After all we are “a charming quirky town” with all the amenities and courtesy extended to everyone. Where do they come from, last reported sales came from Palm Beach of all places. Lake Worth now the ultimate get-a-way! Location location location. We are closer than Key West and just as much fun and diverse. So what is a *cottage? or a *bungalow. If you putting it on a 25 ft. lot it’s small. The variety of these charming shot-gun houses another name for cottages or bungalow, just awesome.

They may call them Spanish or English bungalows …
