a full week in paradise

GoodDSCN7884 Morning Everyone, another beautiful Lake Worth Day!   What a fabulous week it has been all around, certainly a good to be alive one……

I attended the meeting at The Compass Centre on Monday evening where speakers very eloquently talked about their experiences in same-sex marriages and how hard it is to get laws and perceptions changed in order to be able to access the same rights as heterosexual couples. It was an interesting evening and I was truly impressed by what I heard, it is quite amazing that people can sit in judgement on other people’s happiness and lives, passing laws that exclude members of our society…when will everyone learn the art of acceptance of each other? Hopefully the laws will be changed and everyone will soon be taken seriously and treated equally…I look forward to it!

DSCN8769Tuesday was spent completing the invites to The Mail Art Exhibition ‘DESTINATION” which will be held on Wednesday 30 April, I am hoping you will all be able to attend and see for yourselves the wonderful art that people sent in from all over the world helping us to celebrate 100 years of Lake Worth. The envelopes will be exhibited in the Lake Worth Museum over a three-week period, enjoy!imgres

I went to the cinema on Wednesday to see The Grand Hotel Budapest, a Wes Anderson film. It had an amazing cast but was nothing liked I imagined it to be, he is a great writer and has won many awards but this film is a bit like Peter Sellers meets Monty Python, I would be interested to hear comments from anyone else who has seen it. I enjoy going to City Place and have been coming to this area long enough to remember when City Place was not there. It is a beautiful area now and I love to spend time there, sometimes just sitting and watching people, there is good shopping, great restaurants, music and of course the cinema, a great night out!image copy 8

Thursday evening was the bike ride, it was nice, such a great group of people. We cycle along the Inter Coastal from Bryant Park, up around the Birthday Cake House and along the back roads, finally coming back into Lake Avenue and home. Always a fun time as we chatter and laugh whilst cycling, a great way to catch up with people each week. You should come along and enjoy it with us, sometimes we stop for a drink or meal at each other’s houses or downtown, a very social group!    image copy                                                    The Delray Affair on Friday was fabulous, it was a very hot day but there was lots of shade as we walked from booth to booth looking at the goods on sale, wishing we had more money to buy some of the items which were out of our price range. It was an enjoyable day, always a very well organised event which is a lot of fun.

Saturday was an extremely busy day, it was hard to fit everything in, Tai Chi and Qigong in Bryant Park from 10 am, Tropical Ridge opened The Children’s Playground….and amazing event as on Friday volunteers had helped put together the equipment and on Saturday, volunteers helped with the mulch image copy 6and anything else that was left to be completed, all in time for the official opening at 12…..what a great addition to the area. image copy 7

Over in The Plaza there were lots of people selling wares,  the Tree Board were giving away trees to residents of Lake Worth…I love that! Then of course in the evening was the zombie crawl, a crawl from pub to pub, bar to bar by zombies! image copy 5 Amazing costume sand make up, a thoroughly enjoyable Saturday with hardly a minute to spare.

JUST ONE OF THE NEW TABLES

JUST ONE OF THE NEW TABLES

The tables and furniture for The Taco Lady are almost completed and the opening on Cinco de Mayo should be fun. Again, if you pop in to the restaurant,  is on L Street, I think you will enjoy the experience, see you there.

I hope you have a wonderful week, enjoy the weather, be nice to each other and above all, have lots of fun.
