Keep Lake Worth Quirky

We who live here just love the place.   From I-95 to the ocean shore.  Some things change so fast like the houses seem to be a hot commodity.  For instance: ” I feel good about telling y’all that we have received and accepted an offer on the little house we are selling in Tropical Ridge and after less than 3 weeks on the market!”  This gem right here.DSCN6808Then this house, below in Royal Poinciana has been fixed up sold and flipped in 4, yes, f o u r days.  A new realtors sign was just being put out as I biked by, by the same company that had removed another realtors sign after the recent sale. DSCN7825 Royal Poinciana neighborhood most likely has the greatest potential. The lots are larger and access to I-95  well just a minute away, Palm Beach International Airport 7 min. and still the beach is less than 5 min. away.  This neighborhood also just recognized their  House of the month.  Something the neighborhoods do here.IMG_2066DSCN2685 DSCN1874 We have that major coffee-house chain, but we also enjoy 2 independent coffee houses, Mother Earth seen above and Coasters.  Both are the traditional type of coffee houses.  They display young art, have performances and poetry readings.  Nice. DSCN7789 In keeping with this weekend’s Gay Pride activities here in Lake Worth,  two couples who showed up at City Hall to demonstrate, that they could afford to go out-of-state for their nuptials.  Today, the federal government recognized about 300 same-sex marriages performed in Michigan before a federal appeals court halted them, despite Michigan’s governor who does not recognize those unions.  The decision means federal benefits will be extended to those couples.  That’s what it was all about!  Last Sunday on the steps of our Lake Worth City Hall,  80 couples showed that $500.000.00 in revenue was lost to Florida  just from our little quirky city.  Helloooo   Tallahassee DSCN6807 Did I mention quirky, well we have it all and no you do not have to be over the hill to have fun here.

We also have a Lake Worth Anthem written and performed by Mel and Vinney who are preparing to head north and honor their long time friend Pete Seager with upcoming scheduled concerts in his honor.  This is Lake Worth with photos (many by this blogger)  Go have a great weekend.

  1. Sam says:

Luv this. Yes, many of our recent improvements are awesome. The Publix, the Casino and Beach park, the kayak trail, etc. But I hope we don’t lose our soul, our quirkiness, the young hipsters, the older salty pirates, etc. We need to make sure to preserve and protect our historic areas, our cottages (many realtors and developers would love to demo certain areas and build big, ginormous homes close to the water).

  2. I have always said that Lake Worth is the Greenwich Village of Palm Beach County (if not South Florida).
