Good morning Everyone ….I hope your week has been wonderful…..happy St.Patrick’s Day, I know the parade took place yesterday as it did in London, good fun and nice to celebrate the Saint of your country or join on the celebration with others even if you are not Irish..always a good excuse to drink Guinness although I am not a fan. It always looks so refreshing but when I try it it does not appeal at all. In fact, last year when I went to Dublin I took a tour of the Guinness Brewery and part of the our was showing you how to drink Guinness properly to appreciate the flavour….still did not work for me but the tour was a brilliant experience!
I talked last week about an event which was going to happen at my school and it was all hush hush…well, The World Cup, as you probably know is making it’s way around the world in readiness for the World Cup in Brazil, it was in France until Tuesday and then on Wednesday morning it arrived amid the biggest security you have ever seen, at Southend Airport, a great big red FIFA aeroplane. A cavalcade of white blacked out SUV’s waited in readiness with a Coca Cola security van waited to receive the passengers along with The World Cup.
Then, it made it’s way to Shoeburyness High School! One of our young teachers does a huge amount for sport and encouraging youngsters to get involved with football, she has set up a number of clubs and works tirelessly to keep youngsters of the streets, out of trouble and playing sport. She was nominated for and won, a huge competition when she was nominated by friends and family. She gets to go to the World Cup in Brazil and was surprised on Wednesday by the whole school going out onto the field where she was referring a football match and being filmed, as she thought, for the award. It was a huge operation and we managed to get all the students out without her knowing, no mean feat I can tell you! Anyway, after a great afternoon where the American Idol singer David Corrie sang the World Cup song, numerous speeches we were able to have our photographs taken with the cup, which was kept in a glass box. Apparently the only people allowed to actually touch the cup are players of any team who has actually won it and Heads of State, interesting! A great day was had by all and it was very exciting to see our school on television and the students having so much fun. A great publicity event for our school too
My brother is home from South Africa where he is a Catholic Priest working with building education projects and orphanages for children who are victims of AIDS. We had a get together on Saturday, it was great, a fabulous day weather wise and all us brothers and sisters took the opportunity to spend time together.
And now, I am coming back to Lake Worth! I have wound up all the projects I am involved in here and will pick them up again at the end of June when I get home. I am so looking forward to being back in Lake Worth and have already started one project with AnnaMaria which involves the Mail Art competition which was held to celebrate the centenary of Lake a Worth. You know, the standard of the artwork is amazing and envelopes arrived from all over the world, some absolutely amazing pieces of work. You will get the opportunity to see the exhibition on April 30th, it will be worth the wait I can assure you! Invites have already been sent from here to many people…… I hope you like them!
So, my friends my next blog will be from Lake Worth when I become the Outsider on the Inside once more, I look forward to seeing you all very soon, have a wonderful week.
