Well, it is official Spring is Sprung here in England and it is glorious! Spring is probably the best season here as colour starts to take a hold. There are bright yellows of the daffodils, bluebells, crocuses and hundreds of others just littering walkways and parks and gardens! The magnolia is about to bloom and the cherry and apple blossom coming, my favourites! I will try to capture it in photos for you.
It has been Astronomy Week here and at school we had the telescope out and were looking closely at the sun and other planets, quite amazing. Last night was a big night in one of our country parks where there was an astronomy night….hundreds of people turned up to look brought telescopes dotted around the area, all trained on different aspects of the galaxy. There is a Saxon village there and the main talk and demonstration was held in there, it was a great experience and a joy to see so many youngsters attending with parents and asking questions and being genuinely interested, I never cease to be awed by our galaxy, how lucky are we to be here! Our area is having a hug regeneration at the moment, although like most areas and changes there are those that are not so favourable to the public. One such project is the building of a wall meant to be a flood defence which will stretch the length of the edge of the beach where we live. The wall is very tall and ugly, blocking off the wonderful views we currently have and love. There have been several public debates about the issue and we have put forward several alternatives but to no avail, the council seem determined to plough ahead with the most expensive and unpopular, oh well we will wait and see what happens. We have a very dedicated and knowledgeable group of people organising the fight on our behalf, I think we might just get somewhere!
This wall is being built in order for builders to be able to expand a building project which will see many more houses being built in the area, some on what was the old Garrison where soldiers and their officers were stationed. The area looks very good, £1,000,000 houses overlooking the Thames are superb and amazingly enough, selling well. What is good about this project is that they have left valuable areas and incorporated them into the very fabric of the development….like the old parade ground and beautiful archways and officers dwellings.
I return to Lake Worth next week and am very excited about it all, I cannot wait yo see my friends and join in the various activities that are going on…if anyone needs anything brought back from England, make sure you get an order in this week. I was shopping yesterday and look who got into the elevator with the……The Gruffalo! He was giving autographs in the mall and was surrounded by hordes of young fans…….he neede a break…and I got to see him!!!!
On Wednesday we have a huge event at school, it is top secret and will be wonderful….I will have to save the information until next week as I will be in trouble if the secret gets out, I promise you will be impressed….watch this space! I am attending as a governor of the school which means I get a ringside seat…woohoo!
Have a great week, one which sees lots of happiness for you.
