Red Letter Day

in Lake Worth’s Royal Poincian neighborhood*.  It’s been some time since a new homeowner was awarded a home in Lake Worth.    DSCN6397 Royal Poincian neighborhood is the site of 22 of the 37 where the NSP2 homes are located.  Tropical Ridge is the other area.  Both TR and RP neighborhoods are part of the CRA district.  Well over 150 people were present today, many had a vested interest in seeing this home built.    DSCN6409Vice Mayor Maxwell did the honors of welcoming  Ms Cenom and her 4 year old daughter.  What was truly sepcial, see all the kids in the background, Seminole Ridge High School Construction Academy and Royal Palm Beach High School HVAC built this home  in the high school shops and then it was transported to this location in four parts.                 DSCN6427Widlene Cenom gave a thank you speech mentioning she had no money but but all the volunteers involved would be blessed.  She is a certified nursing assistant. Her future goals include going back to school and being able to provide a better future for her child.  There are otherways to reach our shores for a dream of a better life besides Ellis Island. The quote on the Statue of Liberty applies to all our shores. “Give me your tired, your poor, Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,  The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.  Send these, the homeless, tempest-tossed, to me:  I lift my lamp beside the golden door.                   How does one reach this golden dream?   Become a permanent resident, have a green card and pledge allegiance. www.habitatpbc.org
