Organic food demonstration

Amazing things happen for those who stay open to new experiences.  I went to the Gray Mockingbird Garden for the dedication of the Tile Mural (more about that with photos tomorrow) and found myself in a cooking demonstration “Fit for a queen”.  Learned something very quickly as I asked what exactly is a  Country House Cook, after her introduction.  making soda breadmaking soda bread

Chef Penny works a year in advance to fit request into her schedule as she also has a cooking school in Wales.  It was wonderful to sit through and observe her preperations and have a taste of it at the end of 45 min.   Not a dull moment as she explained the difference in ingredience the transliteration necessary from grams to ounces.parmesan being grated for salad basketparmesan being grated for salad basket

Our packet of gelatin compared the English leaves of gelatin.  Buttermilk not as thick as available over there, had to be substitute  with yogurt.  She used it for the Walnut Soda Bread, prepared  to accompany the meal of Stuffed Chicken Thighs and finish off with pudding, meaning dessert which was Meringue Roulade all the while enteraining us with stories.  Those 45 min went so fast and it was all absolutely delicious. Who ever heard of  boiling chicken thighs in foil, you had to see it to believe it.
