Happy New Year to my friends and blog readers in Lake Worth! How amazing that it is 2014, where did 2013 go??? I am hoping everyone had a good time and enjoyed wonderful New Year celebrations whether at parties, get togethers or quietly with family and friends. I love the celebrations around the world and watch as gradually all the countries celebrate with displays of fireworks bigger and better than the year before, I love to think about the fact that all over the world people are living their lives in other time zones. When I am in bed, you are still up and out having fun and when I am having lunch you are getting up! This year we outdid ourselves on the fireworks front and in London on the Thames by the London Eye and The Houses of Parliament spectators were treated to a wonderful taste and smell sensation. When red fireworks were displaying, strawberry flavours were somehow emitted into the air and yellow banana flavoured confetti was cascaded down when the air turned yellow…how fabulous, but what next year???
I was not in bed until around 4am on New Years Day and that was the first day my New Resolution to get the full 8 hours sleep every night, looks like I fell at the first hurdle! Talking of resolutions, I read in the newspaper that 11.5 resolutions are broken within 2 weeks of them being made, I can believe that. Apparently the 18 – 34 age bracket vow to save more money, 35 + vow to lose weight! Top resolutions are giving up chocolate 18%, alcohol 16%, sex 13%? and swearing 12%……….reasons given for breaking resolutions were bad day at work 19%, seeing others enjoy our vice 17%, arguing with a loved one 12% any peer pressure 10% and good news, almost 5 million people are likely to achieve their resolutions..interesting stuff! So, I wonder, did you make resolutions and have you stuck to them?
The New Year has started with a bang for me and has been very busy with family and friends, I love it but now it is time to get back to normality. Schools reopen today, all workers will be back to their jobs, decorations are down those lovely lights that adorned the outside of house and high streets are gone. Now we have sale signs everywhere as stores now try to offload unwanted stock and Christmas goods unsold……yes, it is back to normal
Weather here has been dreadful with high winds and rains lashing most parts of the country for the past few days. We are lucky in our small area here, and although there has been flooding and minor damage caused by the wind we are much better off than some in other parts of England where they have been flooded time and time again. Our fences were damaged and we had minor disputes over who was responsible, everyone agreed that your left hand side of the fence is your responsibility but guess what it is not in my road, due to some quirk we are responsible for the right luckily because only one panel was broken that side. It was very interesting tracking down deeds and looking at papers showing boundaries, complicated stuff! Our lovely neighbours on the left are now having all three sides replaced…woohoo! We read of dreadful conditions all over the world, conditions which have not existed before yet Lake Worth is still tranquil and warm and peaceful………….enjoy!
Have a Great Lake Worth week…….
