Under the Radar

Serendippity “the occurrence and development of events by chance in a happy or beneficial way.

That’s how it felt when I happen upon the Sunday night event at Coaster Coffee Bar right  on s J St. downtown  The thing to remember is Third Sunday of the Month, the Lake Worth Art League also exhibit their art on the Cultural Plaza then.  If you do nothing else make note of the Third weekend of each month for some worthwhile things to be aware of.  This evening was put together by Saxz (sounds like sash) Stevens.

I hung in for the late start and was not disappointed.  Spoken word, poetry, did take notes

ask Jen about her live recitation, you won't be disappointed

and well it is not the same without seeing the performance of Steve B. rapping/rhyming stream of consciousness.  It was personal and meaningless.  How many causes can you put together to become mundane.  Performers to watch out for are Louise Whalen who has just gone public, but has been writing her own material since she was 13.DSCN1727

The other was a lively burlesque-ish  performance by Tuesday.

The evening  started of by the musical duo known as  Dirt Laundry.  It was surreal, took me back to Austin TX and Jack Kurouac times, only then they didn’t include live music, or live performances in  coffee houses.   One of the intriguing aspects of this is the Cash prize.  $7 put in by the performers, then best performance of the evening be it five or twenty one performer takes the pot.  A little like x amount of dollars will hang your picture here.  There has to be a better way to compensate the talent.  Pass the hat!
