Welcome new neighbors

Some of these artists are new to Lake Worth and traveled from across the country to make their home here.  A few were already residence in our town. DSCN0274 (1)The Urban Art Lofts are now their home.    It is wonderful to know what a success this project is for our city and for the CRA who put it together.  Whats truly amazing is the quality of the homes and interiors.                                                                                                                   photo 1    approximately 2,500 sq. ft. live work space.  Down stairs are the studios and upstairs are the living quarters in an open concept design.  The project has been on going for quite some time and there was a call for qualifying artists.     DSC02466                                                              We got some great talent with this group.  Among them is a violinist,  woodworker, photographer, mixed media artist and whats neat we even got some kids.  I’ve heard that there are still 2 units except both have a waiting line.  This past weekend the city came out to welcome them with a ribbon cutting. DSCN0282

“The Lake Worth Community Redevelopment Agency built the artist lofts using money from a $23.2 million federal Neighborhood Stabilization Program grant. The town homes for artists are part of the CRA’s long-term plan to use art as a redevelopment tool.” stated Willie Howard in an article.   This certainly is a welcome to the western part of our town.
