Good Morning from a sunny
Southend on sea……
It is interesting to note that when I arrive home in England, I am acutely aware of my surroundings after being in Lake Worth. In some ways it is so similar and other ways, worlds apart!
I can be in the countryside, at the beach, in a town……all within cycling distance. The countryside is so wonderful at this time of the year, people walking, riding horses. We have had fun at the beach…swimming, building sand castles, eating ice cream and hot doughnuts… Our roads are so much narrower, something I was not so aware of until I cycled with Jill Karlin ( who is here in England for a month) and she pointed it out… Our pubs are old with lots of character, some hundreds of years old….as are many of our houses and other buildings. Of course, our roads were not built to take all the traffic that flows on them…… .they were built by the Romans some 1800 years ago so are not as easy to negotiate as the roads in Lake Worth which are built on a grid system, so much easier. I hasten to add that our roads have been adapted and rebuilt since Roman times!!
I am aware that people are very much in a hurry here, rushing from one place to another rather than stopping to enjoy life and their surroundings.
I love my family and friends and my projects here but Lake Worth has my heart………..
We miss you here in Lake Worth and all the volunteer hours you gave so generously.
