12:12:12 – A Mayan Ceremony held at the communal gardens in Lake Worth
I attended the Mayan event Held at the communal Gardens sited in the Grounds of The Scottish Masonic centre in Lake Worth. I did not expect the spectacular event that it turned out to be! I was impressed with the size of the gardens first of all, it was obvious that a huge amount of care and planning had gone into transforming this space into a living area of thriving and colourful plants, trees and vegetables. What an array of smells and colours greeted you at every turn… I tasted licorice, Mint, banana, lemon…to name but a few! We ground corn and ate dollar tacos made from the produce in the gardens, delicious! The traditional Mayan corn planting ceremony was held where 4 of the local men started the planting by first choosing a stick with which they would make their hole in the ground and plant at least 3 corn seeds, then another at least one foot apart. This was followed by the reciting of a prayer offered for plentiful food and peace. The event was well attended by people that ranged from 3 – 92 years of age, all having fun in their own way.. Thank you for a fabulous event, I would certainly recommend attending any future events held at the gardens, thank you!
