A more in depth reportage found that we had several artists from our own City of Lake Worth participate on this international stage. Sometime the grass is greener on the other side. Recognized the world over for their unique and contsistant quality of work I located these 3 artists during ArtBasel week. If there are more high end artists within one mile of Lake Worth let me know, would love to laud them here. Laura Ann Jacobs was at LMNT, her home base is right on Lake Ave. at Artefact Gallery, one of my favorite artists, has gone from one genre to another all within her chosen media. Raymond P. Neubert is actually in Palm Beach less than a half mile up the inter-coastal from Lake Worth. Showing his work at the Red Dot Art Fair. First met him at the Windisch-Hunt Fine Art Gallery where he had a solo exhibition of over sized photographs. Last, but not least Fred Hunt was invited to exhibit at LaRue LaMona fashion house, in the thick of it all at 35th and Miami Ave.. They removed all their showroom things to create a gallery space for Fred. Fred Hunt known down there as Miami Master. Not unusual at this time that warehouses, gas stations in the vicinity become ad hoc galleries showing for example aboriginal art all the way from Australia, emerging artists from China and many small US galleries bring art to this type of venue. Hide the shoe boxes! Cartons of goods are moved all into storage or draped and the galleriest have less than a week to clean, paint the space and display the work they represent. It is work, the party people and there are many of those want to see and be seen but for the artists this is a very serious expensive endeavor. Each of the above artists have kept their work fresh and what you might have seen two years ago has been reinvented and developed to the next level. “you’re only as good as your last piece of art”.
