We’re off

One of the Lake Worth Centennial projects is off to a wonderful start.   It is the call to Mail-Art which will culminate with an exhibition to be mounted by the CRA.  It has it’s own web presence and deals entirely with correspondence  art. The first arrival at City Hall came from Austin Texas.    The history of mail art is rich with anecdotes going way back to Cleopatra, when she had herself sent to Caesar rolled up in a carpet.  We are expecting embellished envelopes done by artists, calligraphers,  school children all celebrating the first 100 years of Lake Worth.    A free Mail Art workshop has been scheduled at Lake Worth Towers.   The response to our announcement has been well received by the calligraphy communities here and in Canada.  Periodically visit “Lake Worth 100 mail art” and see what the mailman is delivering.  Here are the envelopes delivered to the CRA in our trial period.  This is not juried and is open to everyone.  Next time you send someone a birthday card send an envelope to “Lake Worth 100” at Lake Worth City Hall.  33460
