Another American Dream is full filled in the Royal Poinciana neighborhood of Lake Worth. Almost weekly there is a new home dedications thanks to the stimulus bill the Lake Worth CRA and it’s partners received. Known as the NSP2 grant which takes truly blighted area and makes it habitable once again. Yesterday Ms Kirkbride a grandmother and an emigre from the Philippines became a homeowner for the first time in her life. Many came to wish her well. Commissioner Andy Amoroso did the honors for the City of Lake Worth Beach, also attending was Congressman Alcee Hasting’s representative.
90 homes have been purchased by the consortium of partners. In the target area west of Dixie Highway between 10th Ave. north and 6 Ave. south, making this an area of major transition. The NSP2 program addresses the problems foreclosed and abandoned homes. What does this look like. These two are just around the corner of the new home. So far the new homeowners represent an international range of culture and individual differences. Recent recipients have hailed from Cuba, Haiti, Jamaica and now as far a way as the Philippines, joining the Fins, Hungarian, Guatemalan, Italian and yes one indigenous Cherokee neighbor who already live here. For a better understanding here is a video that might clarify what this program is all about.
