Starting on Friday morning Lake Worth made history, made wishes come true, and turned hours well spent into memories, all this in a 34 hour period. Two home dedications took place in Royal Poinciana Neighborhood, located west of Dixie between Lake Ave and S. 6th Ave.. The Murat Family had their ribbon cutting with all the fan fare deserving of such an event. Followed Saturday morning with the dedication of the Reynolds Family. (I’m going to do this in chronological order as it was such a phenomenal 34 hours). Friday on the stroll home from Evening on the Ave. I took this photo. A rare occurrence, the night blooming Cereus, this was the only time it would bloom. It only blooms at night, just one time, that’s all.A big THANK YOU goes out to these folks who got up before 7:00 a.m. to clean our beach.I’m a daily visitor to the beach. If the weather holds as it did this Saturday morning I suggest everyone take their morning coffee to the beach, sit and enjoy. A record crowd showed up, for the second home dedication at 9:30 a.m. for the Reynolds Family. The young people in the background are here from Ohio’s College of Notre Dame. They are part of the college challenge that has been working with Habitat for Humanity, via our CRA’s efforts which obtained the NSP2 Grant. It was gratifying to see families with children come. There is a protocol that is followed with these home dedications. Words from the dignitaries. Recognition of the volunteers, not just those who labor but also where some of the contributions come from. ( I listeded them on the bottom of this post.) A touching moment is the Blessing of the Home. Along with the key, they get an inscribed bible for this new beginning. Has anyone noticed this. The Lake Worth water tower is getting a face-lift for our upcoming centennial 1913-2012 is being added on. How did my 34 hours end? With a very fine performance on the Cultural Plaza by this steel drum band. They were raising funds for the Trojan Band of Lake Worth High. But there is more to this, these young people have only been playing for 2 months. Must have one great teacher.
